Description

Brand new to the Canadian market in 2023 is this Canadian made abrasive paste, this works exactly like many others on the market, by manufacturing it myself at Woodslee Summercraft Studios, I am able to save many of the costs involved with importing another brand of abrasive paste from the UK, so now is the perfect time to introduce ‘Superior grit’ the brand is based on the Canadian Great Lakes in particular the big one, Lake Superior. I am located in the Great Lakes region of Ontario so it is my privilege  to bring a little piece of the Great lakes to your workshop. This product like many others on the market requires the exact same steps that most of us are familiar with. Please be sure to wear proper PPE eye protection is a must, you don’t want abrasive in your eye

Turn your piece.

sand perfectly to 240/320 grit making absolutely sure there is no tear out or scratch marks from lower grits of paper.

clean with compressed air, tack rag or alcohol.

seal appropriately using Myland’s cellulose sanding sealer,  spending a little extra time to seal the end grain, allow time to dry between coats and before next step.

de-nib with a scouring pad or last grit used of sand paper.

After Superior Grit Original you can obtain an even finer surface with Superior Grit microfine abrasive paste.

with the lathe stationary, apply enough Superior grit to cover the entire piece with a thin layer.

on slow speed start to work the product into the surface with a paper towel, gradually increasing the speed as it works its magic.

once you see, feel and hear that it has done its job, remove any residue.

you have now achieved a finish equivalent to micromesh pad equivalent  without the harmful dust in the air.

Finally apply your finish of choice.

store in a cool dry location and away from children and pets

Superior Grit is not a finish it is a part of your sanding process prior to your finish

(This product is used to achieve a high grit equivalent surface on tight grain wood like ebony or rosewood and resin,  it is possible that if there is any inclusions or open areas, eg bark, some grit may get lodged in there, simply use a tooth brush to remove )
